Financial operations platform Ramp is making an internal artificial intelligence platform called Glass available to other companies to help them deploy AI effectively.
In a post on X, Ramp co-founder Eric Glyman explains why the company built Glass:
Giving every employee AI—the best models, the most tokens—is not the same as becoming an AI-native company.
It’s like giving every employee a Steinway and expecting a symphony. What you actually get is a lot of expensive noise.
One week in May, we burned $1.5 million in tokens. Our CFO didn’t like telling me that, and he won’t like that I told you.
So what happened after that? Well, as is often the case at Ramp, a small team built something. A place where everyone got the setup our most AI-forward employees had built for themselves. Within weeks, it wasn’t a tool we used. It was how we worked. It’s called Glass.
For the first time, companies can have AI work and AI spend live on one platform, the way Ramp brought corporate cards and expense management together, the company says.
According to Ramp, here’s why Glass is different from other AI platforms:
- It knows your business: Glass connects to Linear, Notion, Google, Slack, Gong, and dozens of other workspaces.
- It’s multiplayer: Teammates work together on chats, projects, and files in shared sessions, instead of each person prompting alone.
- Great work spreads: One person’s best workflow becomes everyone’s starting point. Individual wins turn into company-wide capability.
- Spend is visible: Every project has a meter, with full cost visibility and controls, so leaders can see what AI is costing and what it’s producing.
- No vendor lock-in: Glass works with any model provider so companies can swap models as the landscape shifts.
- Smart routing: Every request runs through Ramp Router, which picks the right model for the job based on speed, cost, and quality.
In his post on X, Glyman continued:
You do brilliant work. And almost none of it is seen twice.
It lives in one person’s chat history, and it disappears when they close a tab, go on vacation, or leave. Multiply that by every employee, every day, and your company is losing what it learns as fast as it learns it.
So we asked: what if, instead of starting with an empty chat, you started with everything your company ever figured out? Not scattered across Slack, prompts, and your people’s heads, but built into the work itself.
That’s Glass.
Most companies slow down as they grow. Glass is our promise that yours won’t.
